Hmm, looks neat but I have to ask. Am I the only once that's going to miss the thunder of a V8 coming to life and the smell of oil?

And who here knows anything about these new electric motors. Are they Brushless? What's the deal with all this horsepower?

I know. I hate driving my diesel F250 but I love the smell of diesel fuel and oil every time I climb into it.

Yes. Brushless. Horsepower is just watts /750. It's the torque # you have to watch out for. They'll advertise holding torque as peak torque so you'll get some ridiculous 100,000 ft lb spec and they won't mention it's a 0 RPM

Really like the stripped down idea. The range is good but don't think it'd be a practical truck to wheel right now due to limited opportunities to recharge. It's made me a little less sad about our foreseeable future of electric vehicles

I have experienced the range anxiety of an electric vehicle first hand. It would be unbearable off road. You have no way to tell how rock climbing would drain the battery. The generator is probably a good idea. I wonder how long one of those takes to get a decent charge to get home.

I love how we've become such a sensitive, enlightened and conscientious species and we care so much for Mother Earth that we have evolved from internal combustion engines to electric engines.....with internal combustion engines to generate the electricity. Whatever makes you feel good about yourself, right?

For me it is not an Eco thing at all, it's the torque. It is amazing, 100 percent available throughout the whole range. It would be an ideal off road vehicle. Lightweight, power and torque and quiet. The fact that it does not soil the mountains and streams I cross is a bonus. I would love to have the 50 to 100 mile views back that pictures from the horse and buggy days show us. I not willing to banish everything to get it though. Having said that I do enjoy seeing where all of this is taking us. I hope hydrogen vehicles push out EV's, it is the natural order of things. Progress continues and the best option will win out. Let it happen naturally though, let the market forces prevail.

The torque would indeed be an awesome tool. I think the *quiet* aspect would be the absolute best thing about it though. Imagine only hearing a soft whir from the motor and then you get the full experience of nature's own sounds with a little sand, rock and gravel crunching thrown in.

It should have the batteries in 2 equal banks, when the first one runs out you know you can switch over and more or less make it back to where you started.

Coal powered cars. Genius.

Honestly I do like all electric vehicles. They are best suited for short tasks and commuting. Until you can jump in one and drive and only spend 5 minutes charging it up at a station after you deplete the batteries they will never fully replace gasoline and diesel powered vehicles.

They are fun, though. https://electrek.co/2017/07/27/tesla-model-s-chaser-car-launch-spy-planes-royal-air-force/amp/
