So my ?00 DII overheated and now I have anti-freeze in the oil pan. Even if it?s a blown head gasket I?m not sure this motor is worth trying to save as it was leaking from every possible gasket, most notably the rear main seal. As easily as this motor went belly up buying a used one is out of the question, so I?m faced with either buying a short block or selling.

I know about what its going to cost me to get her running again, what I don?t know is what its worth as it sits. The only other ?major? problem is the three amigos, and that has been diagnosed as a faulty ABS modulator, and I have a replacement, used from WillT, sitting here. Besides that there are a few minor things, like the rear door latch needs replaced, the driver side door doesn?t lock by the key, the hood latch needs a new cable, and a couple of other little things. So if anyone could give me an idea what its value is as is I would appreciate it. It?s been sitting in the garage for the most part, only being used to pull a trailer to our son?s MX races. Its days as a DD were over, but now I?m pulling the trailer with my Wrangler, and that?s not going to cut it. So I have a decision to make, my head says sell it and move on, but man I really fell in love with this truck. :(

hmm, maybe $2500-3k for a rebuilt Long block. Plus time and materials to swap your parts over to it. (that's just a swag on my part, could be more or less). I say long block because you want rebuilt heads with it. If yours overheated (not just blown head gasket), the heads could be warped. You don't want to put warped parts back on your hard work. Will or Dom can probably locate a good rebuild candidate for you, then use a machine shop of your choice.

Its busted good...if you owe on it still, you kinda have to fix the motor, if its paid, off, part it out and move on...
