I am a little surprised as I thought thatmost conservitives were anti-abortion.

I also don't think that most conservitives live up to the party idealism. Case in point less government interference with the personal lives of the people.

If most conservatives are anti-abortion it is likely due to reglious reasons. I have very little use for religion and certainly no use for religion in politics.

I agree with the hypocrisy of preaching less government in your personal life but when it comes to abortion, just let the government decide for you. Makes no sense but that is what mixing religion into the issue gets you.

Give me a social dilemma and I bet 90% of the time it could be resolved with better educating the children.

A famous 20th century Austrian corporal held a similar opinion.

Yes and educaion starts at home and can be in different forms not just a teacher lecturing you about abstenance. We as the parental generation can make it a fad by raising responsible children from the start. Maybe some statistics on lifestyle for those families started with an unplanned pregnancy. So many are anti abortion and anti birth control:banghead: . Education can be the answer to many issues we base our votes on. Give me a social dilemma and I bet 90% of the time it could be resolved with better educating the children. Gun control-My dad taught me early about the power of guns and how to respect them, this is one example.

Very well put.

I'm in agreement with sloanfiske. Nobody is pro-abortion, and it's not about killing babies, it's about the right to choose. ...and yeah, it is pretty right-wing. I don't think I want the government telling my wife what to do with her body.

just to touch on this...planned parenthood is pro-abortion they are not pro choice.

Not if you go into a planned parenthood and ask for their literature. But you won't be able to do that since you are of the male persuasion, you'll have to send a woman in to get it for you.

...ask me how I know...

I won't say anything more about abortion though, because people like me are not allowed to have those thoughts. If I believe that it is a woman's 'right' to choose to get pregnant, then to go back on that decision and choose to have an abortion, then I am considered progressive, enlightened, and correct.

But if I believe that I am standing up for helpless, innocent babies by saying that an abortion is wrong, I get called names, death wishes, and I risk retribution at work.

Well, I started this.

So I say 'Let's generalize everyone!!'

Kris, I'll grant you that everyone who is anti abortion is a doctor-killing, clinic bombing religious fanatic if you'll grant me that everyone who is pro abortion is a bed wetting flag burning cock sucking irresponsible piece of shit who would delight in setting a stack of babies on fire.

How's that? ;)

I went planned parenthoods for birth control and female exams when I was poor and they stressed education on prevention more than abortion. They are abortion advocates true, but that is not all they are by any means. I'd guess they are one of the main contributors to the declining abortion rates. It's somewhere young women - and men - can turn to to learn about STDs, and receive birth control and health care. I was annoyed by the religious goons trying to hand out their pamphlets and harass me on the way in though.
