hey folks. i just put in the 2" suspension lift kit from rte. i ended up with 3" in the front and 2" in the back. the front springs are original and i converted to springs about 5 years ago in the back. so i think that's why i got such a big difference. anyways, i'm super happy. it looks great and from the .25 miles i just drove, it handles 100 times better than before.

one thing though, i did manage to complete rip off one of the front isolator bolts. i figure the other three will hold it in place well enough... and the weight of the vehicle. am i wrong?

You can get by with missing a bolt...for now...unless you're going to be doing some serious wheeling. I would recommend replacing it when you can and look into an aftermarket one. I just installed the RTE 2" lift on my 99 D1 and broke 3 of the bolts off of the passenger side ring. Luckily, i had also bought Terrafirma rings and just replaced it.

On a side note, the rear upper shock mount bolt snapped when trying to remove the stock shock...got that coming in today from Will Tillary..been driving around this whole week with a missing rear shock and been giving some lowriders competition for bounce!

sweet. yeah, no crazy wheeling happening right now. yeah, i'm surprised i didn't snap more bolts with how many wrenches i had to kick. i never could get the sway bar link bolt off in the rear no matter how hard i kicked it.

Get a breaker bar, steel pipe for a cheater bar, or an impact. Spray the bolts with PB Blaster or the like and wire brush the exposed threads on the bolts. Loosen nuts till you get significant resistance. Then thread the nut down, spray PB and reclean threads. Repeat until nut is off. You'll break less blots this way.

yeah, i need something. i coated everything in some sort of lubricating oil and wd-40 before i starting turning bolts. some just wouldn't go. it wasn't a soccer kick or anything. it was more of a heel stomp/smash. i'll definitely look into a breaker bar or something.

What time? It might have been me in the D2, I didn't notice a truck though.

i barely remember getting up this morning. i don't remember being in stanardsville last weekend. but, i do the rover wave whenever i see another disco. which is kinda lame, cause most of the owners around cville are bought by daddy (not judging, just sayin'). someone has one about a mile down the road that's pretty sweet. i always want to stop by and say hi. i'm sure that wouldn't freak him the h out.
