Ok my winch solenoid has been acting badly when I tried to spool some cable back in. If my solenoid has gone bad would it drain power off the batter? I am starting to think that is part of my trucks problem.

i suppose you could simply disconnect your winch for a while and see how your truck runs without the winch being connected.
i have no idea if a bad solenoid would drain your battery, but it seems like a simple enough experiment that wouldn't hurt you to try.

I would think its possible. If the solenoid is somehow shorting out internally. I would do as michaels mentioned. Give it a whirl with the winch disconnected. How old is the alt?
