Hello again... 2000 disco 2

Looking for suggestions for getting the left hand (more impossible of the two) tranny cooler line in. I;ve got lots of stuff taken apart and the old lines out, but alas I still can't for the life of me wiggle the new line back into where the old one came from....Argh...! Some ideas I came up with while soaking in tranny fluid on my back are 1) cut the metal line and use a compression fitting to join'em up again? - really a good idea, except a) what size is the line and b) where would I find what is surely a metric comp fitting? 2) Dropping several more things would make it do-able but, the Y-pipe and engine mounts? really? Any tips or hints here would be greatly appreciated. thanx. Dave

Ok, here's what i learned. Up front at the radiator side you'll need to remove the plastic across the top and the filterbox on the drivers side, on the pass. side access is from the wheelwell to the front hose connections. thanx to a discoweb member for the advice to douse them in PB blaster and hit'em an air gun to free them from years of gunk. Underneath, well... the pass. side hose is striaght forward 19mm on the fitting, the drivers side (or upper hose) is a different story. After hours of screwing around do the following first. remove the bolt on frame crossmember(10mm/impact wrench), Do a tranny filter change at the same time so drop the tranny pan for more access. Remove the tranny switch (10mm) and actuator nut (13 mm box).-not the cable nut!!! Now you have limited access to the upper pipe nut(19mm open end, 3/8 drive ratchet(you know the funny little open ends that fit your ratchet) will reach up there). After about a thousand tries you can get on it. Getting the upper line in is a biatch, takes many, many tries and a fair bit of creative foot work. BE SURE TO REMOVE THE OLD "O" rings before installing the new lines. Once the lines are in and the threads started (Don't tighten yet), finish off all the clamps and stuff and then go back and cinch up on the pipe nuts. There ya go ... easy peasy.. roughly six hours of your life shot to hell.
