Does the ABS system work when you are in reverse?

Backed down a steep driveway today, front brakes locked up and slid, TC, ABS, HDC lights all came on, and stayed on until I shut the truck down and re-started.

I have noticed in reverse once or twice before that the fronts do lock up and slide in reverse, but never had any of the warning lights come on.

I realize the sliding is typical when backing down somthing steep because of the weight transfer, and the front's (now at the back) having 70% of braking power. Kind of expected ABS to kick in.

I know the HDC works in reverse. This really helps with the loose front end feeling. Not sure why the ABS (basically the same system just used in a clever way) would not work.
