I have a 2000 D2 that had a bad front driver's side wheel bearing. I wanted to put off the hub replacement until after this week, as I have a big road trip tomorrow. I got the 3 amigos yesterday and decided to go ahead and install the replacement (I had a new one that I had ordered last week). The new hub went in well, but the wiring for the ABS sensor terminates in a plug. The factory plug by the ABS unit has been cut off and the lead to the previous unit disappears into the firewall grommet containing the main wiring loom. Since I have to leave for a 550 mile round trip tomorrow, I want to have the ABS working. I cut the old lead, leaving a lot of excess to join with the new wires.
Is it possible to solder these wires and heat shrink them? If so, is there an order to the wires?
I can get a shop to textbook the lights away once I am done, but can't bother to replace the hub again at such short notice.
