AC compressor- help!!!???

I have a loud clatter under the hood. It happened once a few weeks ago, went away, now just came back. Sounds like it's coming from the AC compressor and the compressor has a definate vibration to it. Anyone else experience this and how do I fix it?:banghead:

Couple reasons the compressor could be vibrating but they all have the same fix. Is your AC still working?

If it is just the bearing in the electromagnetic clutch you can replace that. But normally the whole thing is old enough that a rebuilt is a better idea. It isn't a hard thing to replace, assuming you have a way to vac and recharge. Course that is technically illegal but you can make it legal by just paying a shop to reclaim and empty your freon before doing the work.
