Yes, there are many out there, Mallory, Jacobs , you name it they all make some great ignition up grades.

dont do it!!!!

I put an Acel coil (big yellow mother - made in USA) on my 95 Disco. It blew track marks in the distributor cap and trashed the rotor button. I replaced both with stock intems and it ran fine for 15 mins and went slowly down hill after that - to the point where it became undrivable within a few weeks. Put old Brit Bosh coil on and it ran MUCH better - then replaced damaged button again and it has run perfectly for 30k. I reckon that the cap simply cant hanndle the extra grunt and I am not aware of bigger caps with bigger spark dams etc. TCW

Remember that to actually benefit from higher throughtput you also got to get better wiring and adapt your spark plugs. Overwise you may see actually worse results from more powerfull coils.

Its up to you :) Mine is aftermarket and i like it so far.

Distr. cap will wear off much faster with high powered system. Also old style caps will be performing much worse than newer style ones. Wires will burn out faster, unless they can handle load.

Most important of all - if you keep your plugs to be Bosch 2+, 4+ - you wont see much gain, no matter what. With regular geometry plugs you got to increase gap a tad. More powerfull spark is nothing. Longer initial plasma arc however gives you whole lot of benefits. But thats up to final manufacturer specs.

Better to put good quality spiral wrap on carbon leads, ie magnacore, Bosch etc.
Run plugs manual recommends, champion n11ys etc. (depending on market)

Baz use some QLD ignition leads better than magna core. Many V8 supa cars and Drag cars based here in QLD use them. A mate of mine used to dyno Mark Larkom's race team engines and they use these. Also some coils cause the 14 cux injection to false trigger on their tacho sense so be careful. You can fix this with a Crane tacho drive module if you really must fit a diferent coil.
