I have a 99D2 with a 2" OME lift, steel wheels, 265/75R16 TAKO's. The truck has 110K Miles. I've never had an issue with the ACE system, and every other year would replace the fluid as routine maint. Recently, I've had the yellow ACE light come on. But no issues with performance. I had read online that replacing the fluid might help. I did that recently, by sucking it out with a baster, and filling it up 'til the fluid looked clean. Unfortunately, didn't help my yellow light. Recently, I hooked up a trailer and only got about a 1/4 mile down the road, when my truck started swaying like a ship on the ocean! I had to stop immediately. I got an yellow light again, but no red.

Not sure what to do. I haven't yet taken it to the dealer to see if they can diagnose or fix the problem. I'm hesitant to put any big money in the truck as it's seen it's entire life in upstate Ny and is getting pretty rusty. Many years ago, I did purchase a conventional sway bar system from a guy that converting his truck to off road duty. I've thought about using that, but as I said, the bottom is pretty rusted.

Thoughts?

I just read elsewhere that to delete the system, it just requires removing the pump, changing the belt and re-programing. Is that it? If so, how would it drive, as if no sway bar system?

Have you ever replaced the ACE filter?
Also get under the truck and feel around for anything loose around the swaybars and ACE actuators.

Im willing to bet you have some dirt in the system.

No, I've never replaced the filter. Nothing seems to be leaking, no evidence of fluid around anything, plus the fluid in the resoviour seems consistant. I have read that the system is sensitive to the ingress of dirt.
