I picked up an adjustable panhard bar to install on my D1 with about a 3 inch lift.

For those of you that have installed them, approximately how much longer did you set the adjustable bar compared to the stock bar?

Im going to measure but having a starting point would be helpful .

+5mm to get axle centered on the frame on mine. however looking at the front DS +2mm is probably more accurate to line up axle to the T case. I'd check both frame and DS

Post up how your install goes with photos. Last time I had the panhard rod off the reinstall was not as smooth as I expected. I think the axle shifted slightly relative to the frame when the panhard rod was off. Once I got the bolt through the frame end mounting bracket and the axle end into the axle bracket, the axle end bolt wouldn't seat. The center sleeve of the bushing was off juuuust enough that it wouldn't let the bolt through. I ultimately shifted it into place using an impact extension to pry it over (end of extension in the bushing sleeve, levered against the axle mounting bracket). There may be a better way to do this so I'm open to other ideas for the next time I have the panhard rod off.

Whenever I reinstalled my stock bar I had this same issue. I ended up having someone else wiggle the steering wheel to help get things to line up. Also grunted with a prybar on the axle. Installing Axle end first made life easier as well.

On an adjustable panhard rod this isn't an issue as long as you leave the adjustment in the center loose until both ends are on.

But FYI to the O/P you will have to readjust the steering rod at the very least as your steering wheel is going to change with ANY panhard adjustment. The correct way being to adjust the rear toe rod to keep the pitman pointed forward.

I replaced all the bushings on this one including the original panhard bar. I had to use a ratchet strap to get the axle moved to the correct spot. I’d imagine that will be needed again. The panhard bar I have is only adjustable on one end and requires taking it off to adjust. I wish it was made to be adjusted when installed.

Also, this is what I have. Aside from the ome damper, he didn’t know what brand it all is, just that it was purchased from Rovers North. Anybody recognize the manufacturer?

Yet another state, Massachusetts, has contributed to this D1. I do know that is a Defender drag link but everything but the panhard bar will be used on a different LR. 15E6C5A0-C87D-4A88-8378-75F00A374A99.jpeg

To me that looks a LOT like a TF Panhard rod as it's black with red bushings. It could also be a D2 rod.. And a defender drag link that's also possibly TF.

Also all the Panhard bars only adjust on one side. Yup a real PITA. Adjust to 2-5mm longer and measure the frame to the axle. As it also only adjusts on one side you have to choose a little off to the left or right as you'll have to rotate the end 180 degrees to adjust it any.
