for my co-worker's 95 RRC with 125k:
I'm going to renew the transmission oil, transfer-case oil, and front/rear axle oil.

I will be replacing the transmission oil filter, replacing thermostat, radiator cap (and O ring) then doing a coolant flush.

The brake fluid looks like motor oil so i plan to flush the brakes too.

Then attempting to pinpoint a steering gearbox leak.

I have done all of this on DIIs and I think refilling the tranny will be easier but the brake bleed as noted in RAVE is a b****..

ARE there any tricks to these services or should I just follow RAVE.

Thanks!

use a bottle jack to spread the frame to drop the crossmember.

most power steering fluid leaks are just the hose clamps .

if the trans fluid has never been serviced tell your co worker there is a chance the trans will die after you swap the fluid.

cross your fingers often:D

id look into how you change the trans filter before you go and do it.
might not be worth it for something that old.

id its commonly known old older rovers that havent had regular trans changes.. that once done.. things go south

Quick question,

why would the tranny die after a fluid change???

The new fluid can dislodge gunk and block passages in the valve block or the gunk can make it work right and when it is gone, it will mess up.

The best investment I made for doing the brakes on my RRC's is a Mityvac 6820 Brake Bleeding Kit. I think I got it for $25.00 @ harborfreight. The Mityvac makes it a very quick one man operation.

A big thing to remember is there are three nipples on the front calipers. Definately not your typical setup.
