Heading back out to Moab soon (from NYC) and I am trying to remember all the things i should have done better from the last time. I can't think of much except i wish i would have had some more protection underneath. I have a steering guard, diff guards, and HD tie rods but I always found myself scraping the Cats going over rock ledges and stuff. WHo makes a good cat guard that will actually take a serious beating. I knew rockware makes one, but are there any other suppliers out there? Good and bad experiences with them? Thanks for any info

WillTN, how far is Franklin, TN from NC? I goto school at App. State in Boone, NC, about 15-20 mins from the TN border. It would be nice to go wheelin' sometime up in the high country on a weekend when we don't have a rugby match. cheers mate.

I don't think they do now. I have never heard of it. But if they do I guarantee its not as good as the Rock Ware one. There skids are some of the best on the market.

You can buy the leftovers from RoversNorth. They have the last of their stock.

Franklin is basically Nashville. I think it is about a five hour drive. But your only a bit over two hours away from Windrock and Royal Blue which are right around Knoxville. That's about the half way point between Nashville and Boone. I wheel at those places all the time. They are some of the best places to wheel in TN.

How far are you from Tellico?

They do but don't get it. I bought one used and tried it. Hangs down too low. At MAR it kept getting me stuck and in rocks I was getting stuck on stuff I normaly would make it over.

Get a Rockware rear pinion guard as well. Best armor that I bought for my Disco. Rockware makes extremely good products. I can't speak for their cat skid plate, but their sliders are the best design in my opinion. Since I've gotten them, they have taken a major beating and had lots of weight put on them and they never let any damage happen to my disco. I would say that if you got one of their skid plates, you'd end up being very happy.

My rockware gear has been great. I have the cat skid, somepeople knock it, especially if doing trails that have high grass (not much of that in CO). It has taken a beating and saved the cats. Does not hang down too low, but obviously its just a bit lower than the cats. Email me if you need more info or call Matt at RW.

From Rockware, I would order the cat guard and the frame sliders. I have used the crap out my frame sliders. Also, I would get the Rovertym Track Rod/Tie Rods, front and rear. They can take a beating.

I have a custom skidplate that covers the transmission too. Also, don't forget gas tank protection.

I have safari gard's front diff protection and a southdown in the back. The southdown is nice because it protects as well as allows you to slide over things.

In my opinion, I would stay away from the Southdown Track Rod/diff skid plate. My buddy had one and it acted more like a shovel.
