Trying to fit an aftermarket sound system.

Purchased a simple Blaupunkt head unit from Crutchfield, the necessary adapters and a Scorsche unit to link the Blaupunkt speaker out wires to the Land Rover wiring via the adapter and its 4 RCA outs.

In any event, I have power to the Blaupunkt etc but no sound at the speakers no matter which option I set the Scorsche unit to.
The Crutchfield speaker adapter connector has 4 pin-outs for speaker +ve's but only 1 pin-out for ground with all 4 speaker -ve's wired to that pin. Now, the pink connector on the Rover has 8 wires, 4 +ve's (red, blue, green and yellow wires), and 4 -ve's (all black). So, I suspect the Crutchfield connector is incorrect but who knows.

I did try a test to wire speakers direct from the Blaupunkt via the Rover pink connector, but no dice either, probably due to the Rover amp, plus my ignorance with how the Rover system works - I know it's probably magic / pixie dust and very dependent on the actual day my Rover was assembled, but neither of those are my strong suit (yet).

If anyone has a method for wiring in an aftermarket system to a '95 please send it along and with pics / wiring dia if available.

Many thanks in advance,

Rob.

Side of the road....
I think there is a DIY on here somewhere. I know when I did mine years ago, I spliced into the factory harness with help from the DIY I found on here. That said, it was for a D2, so not sure if there is a difference. Along with the headunit, I conpletely rewired the audio system, bypassing all of the factory shit.

Unfortunately the factory shit sucks giant balls. I used the adapter to supply power/ground only. Then wired my own wires to bypass the factory amp. Most aftermarket units put out more power then the stupid factory amp does. Your best bet is quality speakers with a small aftermarket amp/head unit.

When I did my stereo install I had to power the amp via the power antenna wire in my connector kit. HTH

Thanks all!
Grenade - where is the amp located - it makes so much sense that this is the problem here. Again, please excuse my ignorance in these matters. If I can locate the amp it'll be plain(ish) sailing from there.
Best,
Rob.

It is under the passenger seat.

http://landroverforums.com/forum/discovery-i-39/radio-installation-37684/ may help you out. FWIR you need to hook up the "power antenna" wire from your aftermarket harness to the "orange light-blue" wire going into the amp.
