What should I do to get my 96 Disco running again?

For those of you that remember, in December of 04 some punks ran a red light and I t-boned their expedition. The insurance company totaled it, but I bought it back, had the frame straightened, bought a front clip from Tillery, and had a guy put it all together.

Well, the guy did a good job on the paint, but he wired up the headlights wrong and possibly something else, so it blew a couple of fuses and it just sat for a while -- I was driving the defender I couldn't resist purchasing at this point, so the disco sat for a while.

Then Katrina (that whore) came through and I've been retarded busy ever since. So the Disco just sits, looking at me sideways every now and then.

I found a mechanic that I somewhat trust, and I want to get the disco running right again. I want it perfect, and I need a vehicle to take clients around in, so the disco is it. I'm going to take the OME off and the rack so I can get into garages and whatnot.

It's got 145,000 miles on it. What should I do? I know I need to get that gas out, but I'm also thinking heads, valves, timing chain. What about the cam?

Any suggestions? I want it to be perfect -- drive to Alaska perfect.

Nothing. That's just my barometer of having a vehicle running properly -- it could take me to Alaska and back. Know what I mean?

I'd like to see Alaska, though, one day. That "North by Rover" set of pictures on EE gets me fired up.

I don't know if it was in LRM, but it was a guy and his family.

There's something about Alaska, man. Pristine and whatnot...
