Aftermarket/Stock---Which will be cheaper?

I have an 03 Disco 2 HSE, Vienna Green. The front bumper on this model has caps on right and left side painted of course. The driver side cap is cracked and needs to be replaced and repainted. A new cap is $150, and the other side will also need repainting.

Im trying to look around for an aftermarket bumper that would still look clean, and would replace the stock bumper----and at the same time trying to see which is cheaper. I dont want a winch bumper, and prefer it simple.

Any ideas which would be cheaper in the long run, or any bumper models i could search for?

Thanks in advance

Mitch

:nopity:

take the leap get a real steel bumper with solid recovery points and get yourself into some situations where you can really take advantage of them, and if repeated often enough get a winch-the bumpers are winch ready but you dont NEED to put a winch on there, but always can

you'll enjoy the steel bumper more, unless the aesthetics really bug you
there is always TJM and such too, sometimes more pleasing on the eyes
I dont care much for the ARB myself

if you havent lifted and gotten bigger MT tires yet, here is the gateway drug:

RTE front bumper(I've got one)

If cheap is what you need then wait till someon is selling their stock bumper and replace with stock for street use

Your RTE looks nice man, how much did that run you?

My options are either spending 1000 on aligning the door and fender, redoing the front bumper....selling it

Or lifting it slightly, adding bigger tires, and an rte front bumper and keeping it...hmmmm

This is actually a good bit of advice i got from SY early on, i had the rte sliders parts welded with some 2" beads under my slider
that aside all the rte stuff I buy is awesome

The Rte bumper cost me like 1200, with the bull bar, round nerfs and tabs for lights and limb risers...

I went cheapy on the rear, i wcouldnt not afford the rte for the back and had some plans to mod my rear bumper for afuel carrier etc, which i had built per my design..so it was simple to buy the samiam bumper, i like his rear dont really care for the tubes on his front but its a great bumper for someone like the poster of this thread- its cheap, offers recovery points and looks cool

for $500 for a front bumper its a great deal,...
his work is still a bit prototype-ish but he's a swell guy to deal with...fwiw:seeya:

It only takes one rock or ledge to bring you back to square one,or worse, should you get the stocker fixed, painted etc,so try not to consider that an option.ARB do a "good looking" one with no light guard dealy's ,fog light posi's and chrome nudge bar that looks fairly stock(if thats your thing) but it'd cost you more than a winch bar.I've heard TJMs have a better departure angle, which would be undoubtedly even better for a rovertym..(nice bar) wish i didn't have to settle for a TJM

Like I say, its okay to cheap out on the rear, but up front, a good solid bumper with great angles, stout and attractive is RTE. I opted for the RTE over TJM after seeing several mangles after trail damage. have yet to see any RTE in anywhere near that state
