Air Conditioning leaking into passenger side?

Noticed under the front passenger side (RH) rubber mat the carpet was very wet, then after driving noticed hot water was actually dripping from around the air vent that is directed towards the front passenger's legs...but only when the air conditioner is in use.

I can't trace where this is coming from - it appears to be water, no smell or colouring - my only guess is condensation from somewhere - any ideas how to fix this problem?

Thanks
David

Sounds like it is time to drain the A/C drain tubes...they are located under the vehicle on both sides of the Transmission. You should see two (one on each side) rubber nipples connected to hoses. Take a old wire coat hanger or similar item and use to clean out the tubes. Be prepared to get wet. Since it does sound like they are clogged, there will be a good bit of water in the lines.

Joey is right.. youhave clogged a/c drains.. they aren't very easy to see but once you climb under the truck (directly in line with the front door hinges) you will see the "nipples" on either side.. while you are under there.. it makes sense to spray the transfer case linkage with some penetrating oil to keep it from binding up...

I normally just pull those drain valves (nipples) out of the drain tubes so it never happens again.

praise the lord! this site is back up. and perfect timing, that this subject has been brought up, i've been trying to figure out unsuccessfully how to take out the clogs int he pipe. i found a little rubber tube in the passenger side, i tried blowing air into it both way with a pressure machine, some black muddy stuff came out but it didn't fixt the problem. i guess i'll search under the truck again for those rubber caps. by anychance did anyone have the same problem spread over to the rear passenger seat too? on the same side?

Rear seat?

If you have water ON the rear seat, check your sunroof or Alpine windows.

Thanks for the help - cleaning those hard-to-find rubber nipples did the job!

I think the condensation from the evaporator is the actual source of the passenger side wet rug (unless you suspect your passenger). A sort of workaround I've heard but not verified is...about a mile prior to your destination, switch from AUTO to ECON on your A/C. That's supposed to give it time to dry.

Have you checked to see what the wet has affected down there? Just curious.

Thanks much,
