I've installed ARB lockers on 2001 Disco II. Suggestions on what options I have available for after market axles. Should I replace stock axles?

These are selecteble lockers - as such, they're not stressing your drivetrain as much as a set of full time lockers. If you don't have the immediate funds to get heavy duty stuff, you'll be fine with your oem setup for a while. Only activate your lockers when you need them and deactivate as soon as possible.

I completely disagree with this logic. If you use them only when you need them, this is when you will stress the axles the most. It has been shown time and time again that a locked rear will blow up stock axles. It doesn't matter a damn whether its an ARB or a Detroit, locked is locked. My brother had his Detroit on the truck for a whole 2 weeks before blowing the axle up on the first obstacle he attempted.

Oh I knew that. Just thought a little levity would be in order. Come to the next CLRC meeting. Love talking shop with Ali. Plus I have never seen a Toy with 35's!

Ali,

your turn. Is there any proof to your claims of 2 years with stock axles and no damage? :D I want evidence man! :D

I've been running stock rear axles on my 95 d1 for about a year now with my ARB and no problems yet. I do admitt I'm lucky and axles are on my short list. I have wheeled it pretty hard but its always in the back of my mind.

Lockers break axles, that's what happens, that's why both Jac-Mac and Maxi-drive lockers come with new axles and drive flanges to start with. You get what you pay for really. ARB are mass market products and are fine but other guys really know what is really required as they concentrate on LRs.
