Air suspension modifications

I just picked up a 2004 Discovery with air suspension in the rear. Now I would like to add a 2inch lift and larger tires but I'm not sure where to start. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do the lift and what size tires I should run with a 2 inch lift?

Thanks

2" sls spacers and some OME or bilstien 7100 10" shocks IIRC as they wont overstretch the bags. I camt remember. front springs prob OME 777 or 751 would work.
275/65/18 is a good size. or 265/65/18.

i liked the EAS when I had it. just keep up with it and you wont have that many issues. it rides good. I wish I still had it...

Pull the EAS out completely and swap to springs. Lucky8 offers plenty of options for a new suspension setup. OME has great kits that a lot of people swear by and I can personally vouch for. I have also run the Terrafirma 3" kit and it worked well but was a little rough. My current setup consists of the IronMan 2" kit and it feels pretty damn good but will be getting swapped out before URE for something with more flex.

If you dont plan to pull any thing very heavy like a camper than do away with sls system. I have seen them blow out on the trail before due to over stretch. one less thing to worry about.

I figure that since the air suspension is still working fine and I don't plan on doing any hard core off roading, I'll just add some spacers and new shocks. The Toddco kit looks like something I might go with. Thanks for all the info.

I have an '03 that I drove for 6 years with SLS. Last year I replaced the SLS with OME HD 2" springs and OME Nitro shocks from Lucky8. I also put on a winch bumper and sliders (from HLC) at the same time.

Honestly, I havent really noticed a difference in driving/handling between the two set ups (I also took off the rear sway bar). I've loaded up the back with kids and with building materials. Hardly drops. I'm very happy with it.

I went with 235/75/16 tires.

NB: if you delete the SLS, you'll have to have the computer settings changed to reflect that. Can be done at any mechanic with the appropriate computer.

Until one day you walk outside and see the truck doing its impersonation of a low rider. Like was said before. I less thing to worry about.

Fuck all that noise. DiscoMike says keep the SLS bags like he wished he had. DiscoMike is all knowing and never wrong.

maybe if you do super super light off roading and a lot of on-road driving, but for everything else screw that. I was in Moab with a G4 that had a bag go out, that was suuuuper fun.

That sounds just like disco mike, only arguing the opposite point of view. ;)

If you like SLS you have to treat it like anything else rubber. Tires. Rotoflex. Whatever. Has to be replaced after so much time.

Heck I'm probably on borrowed time with my LR3.

The guy had replaced it the day before on Fins & Things, had to leave his truck on the trail while he waited for new bags. He ordered 2, installed one, then it went again the next day on poison spider
