we just freed the hops. now alabama allows over 6% abv. birmingham just had their annual brewfest this past weekend. great event. a local beer company had their debut there, Back Forty Beer Company. Naked Pig Pale Ale. damn it's good. i hear it will be on shelves in about six weeks. look for this one.

Aside from the beer thing, just spent a few days in Huntsville, AL. Nice town, i m sure its a bit different from the rest of AL (NASA, Redstone and all govt contractors in this area). Got a few good restaurants and such.

You should have given me a call. Also on that note kiplinger just rated Huntsville as the number 1 city to move to.

Huntsville also has the most PhDs per capita than any city in the United States...

it's a beer thread. but i read not to long ago that hoover, al. was ranked in the top ten cities to raise a family. i live in hoover, big woop......its a beer thread.

well, i'll keep it on track. i'll be picking up my brewing kit pretty soon to learn how to do my own. from there i'm going to start experimenting with different ingredients. pretty sure i'm going to start with a pale ale.

I've been saving bottles and doing a lot of research to brew my own also.

i brew my own. i recommend just buying "grolsh" style bottles with the clamp down tops. capping is a pain. this saves a lot of time. plus they are pint bottles instead of 12 oz. i just did a killer ipa with special ingredients. awesome.
