the winch is new. i cant get it to feel spool out. any thoughts....

Call Warn. If it's brand new, they should take care of you. They have very good customer service. Use it.

x2 on calling Warn assuming you have it wired correctly, which is pretty hard to screw up with a new winch.

If you mount it in a bind it will be almost impossible to free spool. Tighten the housing end first, then wiggle it enough to where it free spools well, then tighten the other side.

i meant to call warn today it slipped my mind... could it be that the drum break needs a little time to wear in? tried loosing the mounting bolts and tretighten to see it it was binding, no luck.

i got it to work. F ed around with the brake, i removed a few of the tension washers behind the curclip and it freed up. now i can at least free spool it out.
