Is there a way to use an ad blocker (preferably ublock origin) on Chrome when it's running on an Android phone that's not jailbroken (stock)?

I'm really close to ditching the iPhone and going with one of those new Google Pixels. I don't want to ditch Safari w/ it's adblock, though.

I recently switched from a 6S+ back to android. I'm on a Pixel XL now after two rounds with the ill-fated Note 7. It's pretty good, although I liked the Note better. If you've liked iOS, the stock android experience on the Pixel is as close as it gets on any android phone to the fast and clean apple experience. It might take a bit to get used to but it's the best implementation of android I've used and it's clear of all the bullshit that all the other manufacturers and carriers bake into their builds.

As for ublock, no dice without rooting. Chrome doesn't support extensions natively. Firefox does, but I'm not a fan.

So Firefox supports them w/o rooting? What don't you like about them?

Can you give me the run-down on rooting? Is there an official way to do it? I never would jailbreak an iOS device because I don't trust the jailbreaks and package managers not to do nefarious things without the burden Apple's protective shield. Is there a more granular approach for Android that still gives me protection against malware but lets me get done what I need to do?
