I dont believe WTF came out of her mouth... yet AGAIN..... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

"Jews need to be perfected..."

In a television appearance earlier this week, conservative pundit Ann Coulter said that Jews needed to be "perfected."

Promoting her latest book, "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans," on "The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch" on CNBC, Coulter said the United States would be better if everyone were Christian.

A transcript of the interview was posted on the Web sites of Media Matters, a left-leaning media watchdog group, and Fox News.

COULTER: No, we think -- we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.

DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?

COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners --

DEUTSCH: In my old days, I would have argued -- when you say something absurd like that, there's no --

COULTER: What's absurd?

DEUTSCH: Jews are going to be perfected. I'm going to go off and try to perfect myself --

COULTER: Well, that's what the New Testament says.

DEUTSCH: Ann Coulter, author of "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans," and if Ann Coulter had any brains, she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I'm offended by that personally. And we'll have more Big Idea when we come back.

After the commercial, Deutsch gave Coulter an opportunity to explain her comment. She said that she hadn't meant to be offensive.

COULTER: No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe -- this is just a statement of what the New Testament is -- is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament.

DEUTSCH: You said -- your exact words were, "Jews need to be perfected." Those are the words out of your mouth.

COULTER: No, I'm saying that's what a Christian is.

DEUTSCH: But that's what you said -- don't you see how hateful, how anti-Semitic --

COULTER: No!

DEUTSCH: How do you not see? You're an educated woman. How do you not see that?

COULTER: That isn't hateful at all.

DEUTSCH: But that's even a scarier thought. OK --

COULTER: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you being offended by this. This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all.

DEUTSCH: We will let the audience decide then, won't we?

Coulter also said that in her dreams, the country would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention in 2004.

"That's what I think heaven is going to look like," she said. "Happy, joyful Republicans in the greatest city in the world."

Manufactured . . . by guess who . . .

Nice Try Media Matters But Ann Coulter Is No Anti-Semite
Debbie Schlussel.com ^ | 10/11/2007 | Debbie Schlussel

The Internet and Mainstream Media are abuzz in their latest attack on Ann Coulter. This time, they're claiming she's an anti-Semite.

It all stems from an interview she did with CNBC's horrid talk show host Donny Deutch. Apparently one of the two viewers watching this incredibly boring show was a Media Matters monkey trained to tape Ann's every word and think of ways to twist it.

In describing the connections between Christian and Jewish beliefs, Ann said that Jews believe in the Old Testament, but Christians believe in that AND the New Testament. Jews need to be "perfected," she said. Reading the full script (also read Omri Ceren/Mere Rheric's and Allah Pundit's excellent comments @ Hot Air), it's abundantly clear what she was talking about. To wit: That we, as Jews, don't accept the full Christian Bible, and therefore, it's the Christian belief that we need to be fully accepting of that.

Why should that offend me? I've had brunch with Ann and we've had many conversations through e-mail, etc., and she's never once told me she's offended that I believe that I am part of the Chosen People. To you far-left Jews and other uber-liberals who want to rush off and call Ann an anti-Semite, that means that we as Jews believe Christians and Hindus (and definitely, Muslims) are not Chosen. Does that make me a religious bigot? Nope. It just means I actually believe in my religion. Just like Ann does. Nothing more. Nothing less.

This whole thing is a lot of manufactured hype in order to try to play gotcha with Ann. . . . .

Manufactured, just like Jimmy Rollins :D

Uhhh... I don't see the problem here. Christians believe that all mankind must be perfected in Christ to receive salvation, that's actually a good definition of a Christian. Meaning if you aren't Christian you need to become one in order to be perfected in him. Pretty basic theology and hasn't really been a provocative idea for... what 1800 years. Certainly not new or unique to Ann Coulter.

Can someone tell me why this person gets any attention at all. Is she a relative of someone famous or something?

I don't like her and also don't like seeing her get all this publicity.

Her allure used to that she was a hottie that could punch it up with the best of them.I think the road has taken its toll. She has made more and more outragous comments to keep the tired show going. What a crap life she must have. It shows in her face, frown lines and sunken eyes. I noticed the same look on both Carville and Matalin.Like punch drunk former boxers that don't know when to quit.Somebody needs to put them out of their misery.

Well, if you're really asking...She's not related to anyone famous. She is a pundit / columnist /author she gets on these shows because she's been on the New York Times Bestsellers List with everyone of her books (5 I think, I'm not sure?) Shows like this have her on because it gives them a spike in their ratings as she always says something that most on the right would love to say but are too polite/cowardly to say, and they love to hear it. If you can get past the bomb throwing she actually has very interesting takes on current events and political philosophy. Don't forget this type of a thing is a two way street, who watches "The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch"? Nobody. Now everyone will go on CNBC's website and Deutsch will get all kinds of interviews because of this...

Her trademark is the outrageous comments but I really don't think this was one of them. (See my above post.) Especially as she immediately tried to clarify what she said. Usually when she tosses out the proverbial bomb she just sits back and watches the left (and some on the right) go nuts.

Can anyone explain why they think her comment was so bad?

Durda - thank you. I was asking honestly. I've never heard of this show either. Sounds like am radio or something. I understand the ratings bit.

It pisses me off when I turn on the TV and see a blow-hard like this Ann person on there. She seems like a self-righteous real bitch who thinks's she has all the answers. (...and I'm certain that nobody does, especially about religious matters)

Glad my tv has an on/off switch.

Totally understand that. But don't get too worked up over it, uber-confidence is her shtick. Its how she gets noticed its how she wins debates and it gets her invited to do more interviews. It will turn some off but will get others to listen to her which is what she wants in the first place. Like everything else on TV it's mostly fake and packaged for a particular audience; those on the right who love the red meat, and those on the left who want a demon to fight and love the righteous indignation she inspires in them.

It reminds me of what Howard Stern used to say... Something about the people who love him would listen to him for two hours and the people who hate him would listen to his show for 4 hours...
