I have a 2000 DII with 36000K. I am leaking some coolant around the front of the engine. I crawled underneath yesterday and inspected, I had a couple of drips on the oil pan bolts at the front of the engine. I could not see any definite leaks, but the entire front of the engine looks wet. From the top side I can't see anything either. I'm wondering if the water pump gasket is leaking or possibly something else. There seems to be more of a flow coming down the driver side vs. the passenger side, I say this because the area above the oil filter appears wet but there are no drips making their way down. I first could use some advice on diagnosing the problem and then the difficulty of repair. Of course my warranty has expired, so if I can avoid a trip to the dealership I'll repair myself. I have average mechanical skills but have never changed out a water pump, if indeed that's the problem. Will it hurt anything to continue driving it, as long as I monitor the fluid levels? Seems to run normal. Any help is appreciated.
