Another stuck window

96, D1, pass. front window.

It's always made a weird clunking sound. Today, I pulled the panel and had a look. As you may know, there's a track at the bottom with two wheeled "arms" in the track that raise and lower the entire contraption.

Well, one of the arms had spit out its "wheel" and the arm was slightly bent. I straightened the arm a bit and thought I'd live with it. Of course, when I attempted to raise and lower the window again, that arm spit itself completely out of the track. Now the window is halfway up and I can't make it go up or down to access the track.

The motor is still working.

Any thoughts on how to get the track back down so I can attempt to repair? Thanks.

Sounds like similar problem in this thread:

As I recall the bottom rail on the window attaches to the "slider/track" part of the regulator with the plastic wheels with 2 bolts. If you undo the rail from the regulator you will be able to freely move the window up and down. It will probably have a tendency to slide to the fully down position if not connected to the regulator. Now you should be able to unplug the wires and undo the 4 or 5 bolts that hold in the motor and regulator. With some fiddling around you will be able to remove the regulator and motor. The motor then can be easily unbolted from the regulator.

Once they are removed, you can better inspect the regulator arms and "slider/track". You might be able to straighten them out. Mine was fuxing up because one of the wheels was broken, it would pop out of the track with its arm and then get all bent up again when the window was lowered. It might be possible to find new wheels and pop rivet them to the arms but I opted for a new regulator.

Hope this helps.

FWIW - I bought a brand new one a year ago from Nathan for ~ $70. One of my plastic rollers disintegrated and I could not readily find a replacement.
