What CB Antenna WORKS BEST ?

:banghead: I have a 69 Im installing a texas ranger freedom 1 696 ssb radio . Which is the best antenna to use ? Since the cab is not steel ,where should I mount ? Is two whip antennas better ,mounted on the door mirrors? Do I use a no ground plane setup, or a ground plane setup since the truck is not steel ?Wilson 1000vs k40 vs whip .top loaded vs base loaded antennas .ETC!!!What gives!!!

Honestly, if you ask again with some sentence structure that makes the post understandable you will likely get an answer. I really can't figure out what you are saying?

Co-phased antennas tend to focus or skew the transmission 'pattern' fore and aft. For truckers or other over-the-road users, this is fine. Elsewhere, not so much. A corner-mounted antenna will also have a pattern skewed towards the ground plane or the mass of the vehicle. For instance, if you have an antenna on the left rear, you strongest signal will be towards the front right.

I got the best signal with a center-mounted antenna: square in the middle of the tropical roof. (I also installed a small steel plate to stiffen the area and to provide an additional ground.) Of course, a top-center mounted antenna ain't so good for going off road, so it was eventually ditched for a quarter-wave whip.

Whatever you get, spend some time to tune the antenna with a SWR gauge. Small changes in antenna length/position can make big differences in transmission.

Cheers
