I just bought a 96 civic for a commuter, it was cheap and its going to need a engine rebuild. There is a astonishing amount of rebuild kits on the market. I've been trying to search the forums to see what ones are any good. But all the forums I've found thus far are all about fart pipes Turbo kits and rims.

Good luck. I helped a buddy do a timing job on a 95 a few weeks ago and we needed some clarification on the timing marks. Never quite found what we were looking for so we just made an educated guess. Unfortunately we guessed wrong and got to do the job twice.

www.d-series.org has a lot for the single cam Hondas. Its pretty good I have found a lot of useful information here, you have to use the search feature.

Keep an eye on craigslist.org for engines etc.

What are you having to rebuild, what engine is in the car? Ive got a 97, I love the car last 4 tanks of fuel have been 40mpg. There are so many good cheap parts for these cars its unreal. I am sure there is a local honda board with a for sale section.

you can use the head on any D series bottom end. you might be able to find a used bottom end from a Y7/Y8 engine cheaper than rebuilding it.
In all this talk of Asians, that statement could be manipulated very easily...

That's cool as hell, I've always thought of doing something like that with two Yamaha rx1 engines.

But 400HP at 10000 RPM? And down to 245 ft-lbs of torque still way up at 7500 RPM? Recipe for disaster running a 8-cylinder like that.
