Why is it that this title and really the whole post sounds gay? Not that I care, nor should i care..... :)

Fixed it for you:

"Looking to get the attention of playful BMW owners to help me rotate my hats"

Ha! :D

I went from E30's to Audi's so I am no help.

I have problems bigger than you want to know:

each one is a project and a nightmare, and a dream all at once

1999 e36 BMW
2004 B6 S4 Audi
2001 996 C4 Porsche

then there is the 1983 280ZX Turbo and the rover, the two more painful ones to do work on..

I have been a long time lurker on all them forums, understeer, bimmerworld etc and have seen some posts suggesting swapping the hats, the others suggest rotation 90 degrees on the hats, make teh arrows point towards the fender on the hats..sadly, no hunter alignment rack here at the house..

just wanting to try and clarify before I do it by trial/error...

Swapping hats will likely yeild another 2 degrees, that much seems clear, what about rotating them tho?

and also looking for folk with any experience with shim kits on the spindle mounts bolts; again, I have read the posts, but you know, the rover geek is a different animal than most BMW drifter types; just looking for that insight from a brit-car- owner perspective..

Yesterday I flushed power steering fluid on the rover, today its the M3's turn to go under the knife

I haven't heard you can turn the plates to change the camber. You would probably mess up the caster when doing that.

My bother has some Ground Control camber plates on his M3. They work well and are easy to adjust but the minimum camber is still more than stock so wear on the inside edge of the tire can be a problem with sticky tires.

I remember turner motorsports did a killer mini project years ago, around the same time they were running the table in the touring car class...

sorry, off topic. wish I could afford a car turner makes parts for.

meh, i never saw ones that didnt work. the adjustable ones are nice, but more $$$

i want to say the TC Klines were the nicest non full race ones, but it has been since like 03 or 04 since i worked on a bmw.

The front camber plates are pricey..same with rear camber arms. $750 for all 4 corners, ouch.

Went and paid for some time on a hunter rack, worth a million bucks so long as you dont follow 'stock' or factory specs

.. was able to get to -2.6* on both front sides using shims(washers, and longer bolts good hardened ones cost me $25 ) on the spindle bolts, that should be plenty with -1.8* on the rears. No toe up front, 1/8" toe in on rear.. handles like our 911 now.

Rear sway set to full stiff, fron to full soft, the opposite of most our other cars. Had a great drive thru the canyon back from flagstaff.

Permagrin: happyness is driving one of your favorite cars on a favorite road. In this case, top down, 81 degrees, scattered clouds, perrrrrrRRRRRfect
