This weekend I went to a place near Montegal,TN with LRN and service guy was their and told me at one of the schools to learn on how to repair them they had an LR3 se on BFG at's. He couldn't tell me what size but he did say they looked bigger than stock tires, so they must be the 285/65/R18. Currently my LR3's goodyears are showing where and probaly need to replace them within maybe two months. I was wondering if anyone is running these yet or has someone bought the Nitto 255/60/r18 and has wheeled with them. At four wheel parts their selling the BFg's for around 204.00 a piece

i did a calculator on how tall the 285/65/r18's are and they are around 32.8 thats almost 3 inches taller than stock plus their wider. I might try to find a shop in nashville that carry's these to let me try them out. But they probaly won't do it.

let me know if you find a shop with some, i found a set of 18" wheels on ebay and bought them, the stock tires are still on them and brand new...i am trying to decide if i want to wear out the stockers first or just get whatever i can for the 18" and i will have my stock 19" with street tires.... i would like something really aggressive but i don't know what's avail in 18"

Been there done that. My 19s are collecting dust in the garage. Nittos on 18s work. Did you buy 4 or 5 18s?? You need 5 as you don't wanna be running a mismatched spare. Bad on the computers and drivetrain. I had to get a v6 18inch rim to match the set. And, this sized Nitto will not fit in the spare tire well unless its deflated. So I carry an 12vDC tire inflater under the 3rd row. No biggie.

I'm now just going to run the same size Nitto Tim is when my goodyears are done with. Which is pretty soon. I will however need to buy a compressor and sell my current spare tire.

Here's a picture of Cooper 275/65/18s that fit without any rubbing at all.

But their is also a big price difference between the Nitto's and the coopers. The cooper cost around 225.00 andthe Nitto's are about 185.00. How much did you pay for all 5,

How are those cooper's on the road? Alot of people have recomended the Nitto's to me and i need to replace my current tires within the month. Have you been able to fit the spare under the car? Or do you just keep it in the cargo area. I do alot more highway miles than off-road and ride quality is important along with milage and correct speedo reading

I've just fitted a set of the BFG's in size 285/65-18 to an 05 LR3. They fit, but not without a little finesse. Up front, the inner fender liner needs to be trimmed at the bottom rear, and there is a spot were several body panels are seamed together. A little nudge with a hammer, and no rubbing. I was worried that they would foul on the upper a-arm and ball joint, but no problems.

There is plenty of clearance inside the fenders with the stock wheels. Did not have to touch the fender flares at all.

Dealer for the 18inch rim... the 5 spoke v6 18 rim ($250??) and NOT the 10 spoke v8 rim ($700??)

I had to pick up the spare rim at the dealer and instead of making another stop at NTB, I had them mount the tires while I was there... let me tell you, in the hour it took the mechanic to do it the entire service department came to an absolute standstill. I could have made a bunch of money betting whether or not they would work. They were all shocked that they fit as they are SO much bigger than the stockers. And common consensus is that this is the size tire the truck SHOULD have come with. They fill the wells perfect.

Have you guys tried this size, 285/65-18, during full flex, full turn to verify that it does not rub?

Larger Tires and Speedometer Reading

Does anyone know if the electronic transmission will automatically adjust for the tire size difference or will my speedometer be off if I change the tire size?

It has no way of knowing that you're on non-stock-size tires; yes, your speedometer will be off, unless you change the speedo's drive gears in it to account for the change.

(What's bad, back on some D1's, it usually was closer to accurate after the tire change than it was before!)

ok, now i have five 18" wheels but they all have new tires... are there shops or other cars which would use the tires? i feel like if i take the tires off and put on some new ones these will just sit forever....

so, the Cooper 275/65/18s, they look awesome!

Sell those unused tires,,,

Sell them on Ebay,,,, take a couple pics, measure the depth,,, who knows. Better than sitting around.

Also, thanks Leslie for your reply.
