It's been pretty quiet on here for the last few days - is everyone doing the same as me and tracking the Dakar rally ?

Best placing for LR so far is 28th place overall - with two blokes called Gibon from France :D They lost some time when a Camel crossed in front of them and they tried to surrender to it :D

Yeah I'm DVRing it. The first two stages were nuts. Between the deep mud and sand. It was funny watching the H3 having to get pulled out by a JCB.

I've been watching the highlights at 6:30 each night on the VS network. Is there more coverage available?

Dakar.com :) Live tracking of the race - I'm up at the crack of dawn every morning to watch the blow by blow. There's also coverage up on youtube and some of the teams are also including coverage.

Blows the hell out of the lame coverage ABC gave the Baja 500 and 1000

I hope Robbie Gordon gets AIDS in Africa.

I hate that motherfucker with all my body.

Conversely,
All the luck in the world to Jutta Kleinschmidt, the toughtest woman on the planet. I am continually impressed with her abilities and her sportsmanship.

Looks as though Gordon won today's stage - but there are rumblings of protests being made because he pushed a few competitors of the track and even hit a bike.

Jutta is currently still out there at the moment - she had a break down :(

Overall Sainz is in the lead by nearly 4 hours over Gordon

When did they start the Zambian 500? My copy of Mullet Magazine mentioned nothing about this.

Robbie Gordon is one of those people that because he is good at something else (NASCAR) it's automaticly assumed that he'll be good at other things (Baja and Dakar) sadly he does well in Baja, through dumb luck mostly, but that meens he must be good in Dakar. The fact is that I could probably school him in Africa, and I am by no meens a great driver.

Jutta kick some serious ass though, and is a big enough name that VS shows highlights of her day. I like the privateir guys best, no team trucks, no major corporate funding, just a few spare parts and they run the thing.

Yep. Can't decide which of the KTM factory teams to root for. I like them all but probably the Repsol team is my favorite (go Marc Coma).

I'm digging the KTM/Man factory support truck too.

Dakar is the only race I can think of where the mechanics are racing too, and if your mechanic is a slow driver you lose, no matter how fast you can drive. Plus giant trucks bounding through the desert is just old fashioned cool

It seems to me that's the only way that the left turn morons think you're supposed to drive ... and that its spilled over into whatever the hell that open wheel series that Tracey drive in.

Man, if R Gordon intentionally "bumped" a two wheeler, they should just string him up there ... I can't see any reason to send him back over here.

Must of been a flash in the pan - he's not even in the top 5 today. He ended up getting a slap on the wrist for bad driving.
