Apline Window Seal - WTF?

What am I missing here? My 97, pulled the alpine windows out, treated the areas that had some rust, now trying to re-install the 'orginal' seals.
This is a real $#%@$.
I am probably killing myself trying to use the old seals, right?
Nathan sent me the wrong seals, now my truck is down until I get new seals and I get a damn mobile glass unit out to reinstall since we can't seem to get these in....

Here is what our install approach was, you can tell me if I am crazy:
1- Generous amounts of silicone spray
2- started with the top since that is where the lip of the body is and got that lip into the seal, pressed the window flush
3- started to pull the wire (round speaker wire), but the damn seal lip will simply not roll.

We did not use nylon rope, could not get my hands on any. I do not think even that would have done the trick.

So what is the fricking trick? I am tired and mad as hell right now.

Something is odd - I had no problem installing mine. Now, what wrong seals can there be? Rear quarters' window seal instead of alpine?

the seals that were sent looks like a tear drop shape with only one corner.
Anyway, since you had an easy time of it, did you use chord and start with the top lip?

There is only one corner. You don't pull the whole seal in. You insert the gasket in the body. You stuff the seal into the gasket. Lastly, you insert the retaining strip into the gasket. When you're all done, and it leaks like hell, take the truck to the glass guy and go drinking.

You know what I was trying to do was just plain stupid. I was trying to install the seal and glass at the same time instead of installing the seal first, then the glass.
Now do I have that in the right order?
Also, looking at the TSB, I noted that the window seals are indeed correct.
But that is all I have, AWR1146 and 1147.
Are you saying there are more parts to this window gasket?

If you have the TSB, you'll also see that the seal strip is required, AWR1145. You'll need one for each window, which is convenient, as now the minimum order quantity is 2. I resealed mine, as it was dripping a little in the front. Now it's pouring out of the speaker. It's going to the glass shop Wednesday.

well, many hours later and done, but my fingers are numb! The gasket was installed first, followed by the glass. Then since I did not get the strips, I used the old ones from the orginal gaskets. That was a very tedious exercise.
This little DYI project was not little for me so there is certainly a better way since others think the hardest part was taking apart the plastic moldings.
Anyway, I guess I will see if she holds in the next rain storm. If she does leak, off to the glass shop for sure becuase I will never take on that job again.

Plastic moldings? Um, they stay in. Everything is done from outside the truck. If you think the original strips were bad, the new ones are considerably wider. There is a tool that spreads the seal and the seal strips falls into the widened opening. It's not easy, but a Helluva' lot easier than doing it the way you did. Good luck with the next rain!
