I have a project going on with my ar. Going to a SASS with it and have looked everywhere for a butt plate spacer, but have not found one that I liked. I need to make the length of pull a little longer. I don't want some fancy stock. I have gotten rid of the m4 stock and have the solid stock off an A2. Keeping with the KISS rule with this one. Also, I need to get rid of the rattle in the front pin. I have a wedge in the rear, but the front still has too much slop for me. Just looking for ideas or other places to look that I haven't. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
c

Just duct tape a collapsible AK stock to it. It will not only hold a tighter group, but be just bad ass overall :)rofl: ).

Oi sputnik, I am sure you and your ak are reaching out to 10 yrds and all, but you should know what I am talking about. When you going to change your M4? Besides, I think the carbon tape would be much cooler.

Midway or brownells has the "expanding pin set" you can swap out with. Not sure what the real name is. Basically the pin is a couple of pieces designed to wedge and expand when tightened. You can have a good machinist make you some new ones with better tolerences.

Regarding the butt stock I don't know what to tell you if your staying with a standard a-2 stock. you could have someone machine you sections I guess. The nice thing about some of the after market stuff is you also have an adjustable cheek piece. This is very handy when putting on larger optics and especially high rings to accomodate NV such as PVS-22 and 27s.

Pics please

With my new ghillie suit (fat boy spandex thermal edition) and the supa accurate suppressed AK I can actually get within 10yds of the bad guy and snipe him with the iron sights. And yeah, carbon tape rocks.

I will look into the pins. I have a cheek piece that I like and have used this method many years. My bolt gun has the adj cheek, but i want this one to be more basic and take the licks that it is going to get.

Problem with fixed extenders is that when you change vests, clothing. etc you can't fine tune it. We have such temp changes here that one day you literally will be in light body armor and a bdu shirt and thats it. Two days later you may be in the same body armor and gortex with a heavy jacket.

We switched out all our bolt gun stock for this reason. Not to mention higher rings cause of the PVS 22s and 27s

On the AR, if you don't mind the additional weight, why not use a Mag Pul stock? I've got one on my Bushmaster Varminter and it works well, but it's a heavier AR not like some of the assault types.

Because I don't follow the fads. It's amazing how if you know how to shoot, then you don't need all the glitter. Most of it is show. Not all, but most. At least that is what I have found in this here biz. The spacer for the stock is on the way. I have found a solution for the rattle up front without new pins. Thanks to all for the ideas.

Cheers

I am really saving up so I can put a piston/gas combo on the upper so I will have double the bad ass power.

You really need to take a Front Sight class, Chad.

This is what I hear. I think I am holding the gun all wrong. I keep being told to relax and have a firm grip, but not too firm cause lord knows I am going to be relaxed in a gunfight. Guess I will just have to try again in the next one. Besides, I can't shoot good on paper, only on live targets.

"Glitter"? Well I do know how to shoot, been doing it for 30 years. Been working on guns for 25 years. It's funny that you need to order a part for a stock that I'm sure was designed for your specific Drop at Heel, Drop at Comb and Length of Pull. All I have to do is turn a knob. Just because something looks like glitter, does not mean that it's just for looks.
