That is true. I welded up the crush-cans on my ARB and no issues winching so far. Its a very easy fix. Note I didn't weld the cans to the frame - I just welded support across the accordion-section of the can so it cannot deform/bend. I guess I lost my 5mph bumper rating with that one.
