Hey man...all 98's are D1's...1999 is the year where a discovery can be a I or II...for visual differences...The taillights on a D1 are lower than that of a D2, the top of the lights is about par in height with the top of the licence plate....another thing, D1's have a rectangle door handle that is flush with the body of the vehicle...D2's have door handles that look newer, they come off the body...those are 2 things that help me out alot when first looking at them, i hope that helps

LSE DIs have piping.

well shit. i need to get me one of them.

DIIs i should say are just fancier in general. lots of fancy appointments like fancy fender flares, fancy cupholders, fancy plastic bumpers, fancy traction control stuff, fancy door handles, fancy wheels and fancy drivers.

The 03-04 DII's did not have the Series II badge on them. The 04 DII's had round tubular roof rack bars. And of course the RR headlights. 99-02 DII's are most noticeable as already stated by the door handles and the taillights.
