Are the CVs the same 87/89??

Got the chance to pick up an 89, or 87 parts truck for my 89 RRC. I would rather get the 87 for the LT230, but my CVs are clicking bad, and after I buy the parts truck, Ill be broke for a while.... Sooooo, I would like to see if I could use the axles/cv's from the 87?? If so, that will make the decision for me to get it over the 89.. Thanks.

The CV changed a few times but I think the 87 and 89 both use the same 10 spline - check the last 8 digits of the VIN - EA305590 thru JA624755 use an RTC5843 and JA624756 onward uses an RTC6811R
