I recently moved back to Phoenix from Seattle and would like to see if there are any member's who would like to meet up sometime in December to do a lil offroading? I have gone around the 60 towards globe and fourpeaks, but am up for suggestions. It's been awhile since I last was out in the az wilderness and can't wait for the next trip. :D

Gmookher,
love to meet up with you on the week of the 19th. I could definelty point you in the right directions if you do decide to relocate here. I rented a humper h3 a couple years back and still had fun on the trails. Pm me if ya would like to hook up for a little adventure when you're here.

Ciao

ooh, that sounds like fun. I'll have to see if anything's happening up that weekend, but I might be able to make it. I still have the trail CD from AZLRO's 2008 outing, which was between florence junction and superior. I'll see if I can find it and make an ISO of it.

az_max,
would love to see another rover get out for an adventure through Arizona. Definite plus if you could work your magic on the cd from AZLRO. And by the way I heard that az has revamped their rules towards ohv use and was wondering do you know if it has had any affect on Florence Junction?

I have a feeling, based on the topography, that there is as good terrain in AZ as there is in UT and CO..not that OR and Wa dont but northern AZ, Sedona, Flagstaff,I like them rocks

Which weekend is "the 19th"? November or December?

I have loose plans to run the back road from Pleasant to Crown King with a friend and his H1 the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 28th).

I'll be in Hawaii the weekend of Dec 19th.

I'm guessing Dec 19th, as Nov 19 is a thursday.

I had planned on going in December considering all the stuff I need to do around the house. Honey-do list is rather long. I might be able to go in November but really had plans for December. Moving always is more fun than expected. Am I right though that the majority of the responses are to head out in November though? Let me see if the wifey will let me

That's kinda how I feel too. Moving and starting a new business really has a way of stressing one out. I just wanna get the time to explore az again. Any month works and I understand about things gettin hectic at the end of the year. I'm sure things will come together.

A fun day trip or overnight camping trip is up Four Peaks Road off of the Beeline Highway (Highway 87). Only 25 miles up the highway from Scottsdale and then another 19 or so up to Lone Pine Saddle and then another 18 or so down the backside to Lake Roosevelt/Highway 188. Spectacular scenery and camping at Lone Pine Saddle is pretty good. I usually make an overnight out of it with my wife and then in the morning we hike up to Brown's Peak and back and then she drives the Disco down the backside road to Lake Roosevelt and I bomb down on my Cannondale. Then burgers & beers and shuffleboard at the bar & grill in Punkin Center and then about 75 miles home via Highway 188 to 87. You'll usually find some snow up there in the shaded areas if there's been winter rains in Phoenix.

That is a sweet trail, haven't driven it for a couple of years though. If memory serves me right, there is a couple of foot trails at the top and some decent areas to hunt for gem/stone. Not really my thing but the friends I brought along with me for the trip found it very nice. Definte all day trip by the way.

My wife & I and a few friends did the Lake Pleasant to Crown King trail this past weekend. I haven't driven that trail in about 5 years and it's changed quite a bit. Much more eroded and harder than it used to be...took a solid 6 hours to go 24 miles. I think I stacked about 2,000 lbs of rocks to get my friend's H1 over some of those obstacles. The D2 did just fine. The week before four people were killed when their truck went off the trail and rolled down the cliffs. I kept that little tidbit to myself but my wife freaked when someone up in Crown King brought it up after we arrived. Guess I'll never get her on that trail again.

Crown King was alot of fun when I went 3 years ago. Didn't think it was difficult enough to kill people though. Funny thing about h1's is I either see them stuck or rolled and burnt on the trail. When they first came out I got one stuck on a whoop de behind our dealership we made for my friends little brothers 80cc dirt bike. What a joke of an offroad vehicle, lol. Any dweb folk still interested in doing some trails on the 19th?
