weirdest thing.....i go out to get in my truck and leave and my truck won't come out of park. its a 1997 disco 1 with a automatic tranny. ive never had any problems with the tranny before.

when i press on the brake i can't hear the click from the selector that disengages the selector.

do you guy know how to fix this???......i hope its simple and im just being a moron tonight....thanks

Or the fuse(brake lights, IIRC). I know exactly how you feel.. first time it happened to me all I could think of was how much this was gonna cost to fix...

Stuff a quarter between the two terminals on the passenger side of the rear glass. One is for window heat, the other for the 3rd brake light. The quarter shorts the two together. Flip on the rear defog switch, and you have temporary brake lights, therefore, shift interlock release.

D i think its your throttle body spacer, its deff got your vac. lines jacked big time. Not he just took the sensor apart and cleaned the connections and then we checked the fuses and they are all good but its still stuck.

ok still no go.....

i think ive located the problem. the brake lights don't work anymore. i pulled the passenger tail lgiht out and and the brake light bulb was the wrong type and has over heated and burnt out. not bad just charred connections.

i fixed the connections and got a new bulb. so now still the brake lights don't come on when you press the brake. the bulbs work when you turn the head lights on, but not when you hit the brake.

all this leads me to believe that there is a burnt up wire somewhere. i guess after work tomorrow ill have to pull the panels out and start digging to fine the broken connection.

for the record its not he brake switch or a fuse. i rebuilt the brake switch and it works fine and the fuse is fine too.

SO DO YOU GUYS THINK IM ON THE RIGHT TRACK????

DO YOU KNOW OF ANYONE LIKE "PAINLESS WIRING" THAT MAKES REWIRING KITS??

if i can find a rewiring kit im going to rewire the entire truck....im tired of fixing bad british wiring every week.

hmm....thanks ....i it might been the brake switch after all. because i wasn't aware that theres a cruise control switch and a brake switch down there. the switch i took off to examine had a vacuum line attached to it and it blew my mind. so ill get back under there and try to locate that switch. plus i didn't examine the defrost wires. its been wet lately so maybe soemthing went wrong there.

id still like to rewire the whole truck though
