Auxillary gas tank mystery

My 74 Series III 88" has an auxillary gas tank. The aux tank (left side) looks identical to the main tank (right side), however the filler and breather tubes of the aux. tank are on the left side of the tank. The main tank has the filler and breather tubes on the right side of the tank. Everything else about the two tanks appears to be identical.

I called AB and RN and neither had heard of it. Normal aux. tanks require you to lift the driver seat and fill the tank.

Unfortunately, before I knew this was a mystery I removed and junked my aux tank because it was leaking like mad. So no pictures.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any idea where to get parts?

If I can't find one, my thoughts are to buy a typical main tank and have a shop do some custom work to move the filler and breather tubes.

Thanks

She has a good site. However, my question has more to do with if anyone knows of a fuel tank like the main tank but with the filler and breather tubes on the left side of the tank (not the right). Just to be clear, I mean the tubes that are part of the tank itself (not hoses).

Thanks

I have dual tanks as well.
I believe mine are both the same tank as the stock right hand tank?

1st picture is my LH filler
2nd is the LH tank inlets behind the drivers seat
3rd is the RH tank inlets behind the passenger seat

Thanks for the images. That is almost like mine except on the left tank the filler tube and breather hose are flipped like in my Photoshopped version of your photo. Betcha you can't tell the difference between the real filler tube and my photoshopped one. :D

The big blotch is the filler tube and the thinner one is the breather hose.

My left tank is definitely not the same as the main tank. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

I think the Australian Army had dual tanks with exterior fillers on them- I am not sure if they reversed the tubes and breathers though and stocked 2 different tanks though.
