"He said he asked the Obama administration for 3,000 National Guard soldiers to patrol the border, but what he got were 15 signs." - This pisses me off.

There are Mexican Drug Cartels that are controlling a small part of our nation, and the Feds don't want to do anything about it? I really don't get it. :banghead:

Launch some Apaches, and be done with it....

Well, it does appear that Obama is finally sending in some troops:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-08-30-borderguard30_ST_N.htm

From the article:

About 30 Army National Guard soldiers were scheduled to arrive at the Arizona-Mexico border this week in the first wave of reinforcements sent by the Obama administration to bolster security.

More soldiers will be sent each Monday until 532 have joined the mission

Hmmmm......532 guardsmen. Better than nothing but only 18% of what the experts determined we need.

The soldiers got two to three weeks of training in surveillance techniques and first aid. They will be armed for self-defense, Castillo said, but will not have law enforcement authority. Instead, they will serve as "extra eyes and ears" for the U.S. Border Patrol.

I understand they will be a big help, but why not make them full-fledged border guards with enforcement authority?

As originally stated, the fed is a joke.

Eh, 30 National "Guardsmen".... with 2-3 wk training... That should be effective. We will be better off installing more cameras for the same amount spent and let the local border guys handle things.

Bah, just have 3 or 4 Apaches patrol and unload their 50 cal guns on any drug smuggling activity. I know I'm dreaming. The Feds would consider that too harsh & inhumane for our precious illegals searching for a better life.

I never thought the people that are in charge of securing our borders would end up being such vaginas.

I thought immigration has dropped sharply over the past years?

Wall Street Journal

The influx of illegal immigrants plunged to an estimated 300,000 annually between March 2007 and 2009, from 850,000 a year between March 2000 and March 2005, according to new study released Wednesday by the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research group.

Maybe all the AZ hysteria is because of an interesting connection between AZ Governor Jan Brewer and a little company called CCA (Corrections Corporation of America) As pointed out here top people in her staff stand to profit by the detention of illegal aliens in these for profit prisons.

Nothing to fear but fear itself kids...
