Selling my 08 ML 320 CDI Monday and need a car. I'm going to go back to Rover!! This next one will be my 5th Rover to have owned.

Anyone know of a good, preferably Southern, 06/07 LR3 out there in the $20s??

Thanks

Have looked on both. I've never bought from BVLR but have looked at their cars via internet for years. I may go that way. I do want one that has warranty left.

Any idea what an extending warranty costs through land rover??

So very glad Jackson has FINALLY gotten a Rover Dealership, however, they are small and don't have much on lot right now.

Congrats on the new LR3!

Why did you ditch the ML?

Wilki, 08 LR3

He wanted to get worse mpg/fuel cost and a less comfortable ride that however, has a lot more space inside and can go almost anywhere ;)

Seriously, yeah, why? Being an 08 it must have hurt unless you got it used too. If you did like MB at all, the GL 320 cdi was cool and the G500 very cool - but pricey, more or less a luxury version of a Discovery II with lockers.

My mom has the MB. That things sucks. Total "mom" car. There should be a law banning men from driving that car.

It's the 2008 ML550. But looks just like the 320 and 350. Total wanker car.

The G500 is a sexy truck.

I've always thought the G500 would be an awesome starting point for a cool camping/moderate trail rig but they just cost too much.

I looked around and started a G500 and came to the conclusion that it was a lot like a DII but much less interior space, for a lot more money. But it still is a wicked vehicle especially the g55.

I would say that, it's shorter ceiling but not really any shorter length, maybe a tiny bit but not "much less". It is definitely more $/cu ft but you get 3 lockers and sweet leather included with that ;)

Well, I just thought I'd put the ML diesel out there and see what happened. I was asking what I paid for it. I heard that in some places the MB diesels were really in demand and all the calls I got, and am still getting, are from guys with foreign accents. Their buying and sometimes shipping to Europe to sell for sometimes 3 times or more what they cost us over here. The guy who bought it is going to ship it to Europe. He told me mine would probably sell for around $100,000. I got pretty much what I ask.

I got a slightly used LR3 because I'm a land rover enthusiasts (and I think it rides and drives better than the ML 320!) I'm not crazy about how Mercedes drive (nothing like Bimmers). And the LR3 sure does have a lot more capability and storage pockets and places than the ML. Also, the price was great for a low mileage LR3 that's loaded. Yes, it's a gas guzzler but with diesel prices what they are... I'm not sure it doesn't equal out now. I do wish Rover would offer diesels over here.

Like the lr3 for what it is but don't say silly things about mpg/$. What mpg does the new cdi get, low 20's at least, the lr3 won't really do much better than mid teens unless it's stripped, empty, and driven with care--downhill.

16mpg vs 24mpg, 8gal less is 30% worse mpg, $4.50 vs $5 (diff is generally been 1/2 that tighter everywhere I've seen) is still only a 10% cost diff. so, at best, your lr3 will cost at least 20% more in fuel, not to mention the extra stops and no biod option and less torque.

For my 30,000 miles per year, it does ad up.

I'm not advocating the ML or GL, just pointing out the gas cost vs fuel aspect that people keep blabing about. the new clean diesels are nearing 50% + better economy and will likely continue while the V8 is not going to get much better.

I will. I'd like to get a roof rack, winch, tail guards......

It's just that matter of $$.

I'll post some soon.

revise the above mpg down to 15 with the stuff you want to install .... put the right tires on and you'll be lucky to see 15 on the hwy.

Well, I just got rid of it, but it's hard to beat selling a car for what you paid for it after about a years use!!! Maybe we should all be driving GL diesels, use them for a year and then get another. Besides diesel and service, we'd be driving them for free.

I don't know what the rules are to this business these guys are involved in who buy and then send them oversees. But the guy told me that he must keep it in the states 6 months and then keep it 6 months over there before he can sell it.

I picked it up in Atlanta, drove back to Jackson. Then this week drove to Sandestin, FL and am averaging 18.1/18.2. That's not too bad in my opinion. It's got the V-8.
