Bad ACE noise / sound?

Hey all

Used "search" and found nodda, so heres a new post: I've been getting a strange sound coming from my '99 Disco II when I turn at low speeds. This is my first Disco BTW, maybe this is normal. The best way to describe it is, well... a vibrating thumping? The sound is matched with the engine RPM.

I suspect its the ACE system but I don't know which component. Every so often my ACE light will turn amber and, surprise surprise, no more sounds when I turn.

Anyone else have something like this occur?

I had similar noise on 00 Disco and the dealership changed the ACE pump from what I recall. The ACE is noisy and you will get use to it over time.

You can also disable ACE to get rid of the noise , wait for others with much technical knowledge to chime in

Yeah, ACE. You might have the "rattling pipes" issue. I think there was a TSB on this one. Basically, it involved replacing some of the piping on the late 99 models/early 00 models IIRC.

Some working ACE systems are louder than others. Other than a small leak, mine has been flawless and it doesn't groan very loudly at all.

Yeah, "rattling pipes" sounds about right. Are TSBs taken care of at the dealership free of charge or is that a warantee-based repair?
