Not everyone knows they're illegal when they're buying them.

And yes, you should blame the crackhead replacing the serial number on the gun

The fucking loser who imported known illegal trucks and sold them to unsuspecting people is to blame. Anyone who knew the rules avoided this guy like the plaque

LOL. "Hey man, I got a 2010 Defender down here for sale. You want to buy it? We'll have to register it as a 1983, though".

Yeah, no red flags there.

It's bullshit. The people buying these trucks knew what was up. Sure, there may be a few caught in the middle here who did buy a legal truck that is permitted within the law. I'm sure these people will get their trucks back in a timely manner. But the majority of folks buying newer, illegal, trucks knew what was up. And almost certainly the people from web forums such as Defender Source knew what was up. For 10-years this was a weekly topic on all Rover forums - it was more common than the what tires fit my D2 with 3" lift threads.

Your right Dan, but it does suck for those who were looking for a cool truck and trusted the scumbag...

over there
maybe one day i will understand why a rational thinking human being would not only pay more than $5k for an uncomfortable, unreliable, rusty farm truck let alone buy one all snazzied up for $30 or $40k....wanting the thing so bad they would buy it possibly knowing it is illegal??? i understand why goose likes them, italians can actually fit in the things.

does owning a defender really make your stock go up that much more amongst your friends?

then guys (except for phillip and frank) who dont even own one discuss it on a forum dedicated to discoveries?

everyone get back to work and make america stronger and more sustainable already.

This is where your reasoning is flawed. You can't assume that Land Rover owners/buyers are rational. By definition they are not. If they were, they would own other vehicles. Once you learn to let go of the premise that rational people make these absurd buying decisions you will find harmony in the Roververse.
