Bad Starter or What?

Put a brand new Classic Car Performance British Starter (Denso) in the Disco 1 about 2 months ago. This thing just rips.

A few weeks back, I noticed what sounded like grinding or scratching metal when occasionally starting the truck. Today, it sounded really bad so I turned it off and tried again. Nothing. Whole thing was dead; not even a click.

Waited 10 minutes, fired it right up again. My thought is that its maybe a loose cable, but the sound is making me think the starter is already on its way out.

Take a listen and let me know what you think...

I had a problem with one of their starters hanging up on the flywheel and then failing altogether. The good thing is the lifetime warranty. If you have any trouble with the vendor honoring it, go direct to the rebuilder. I can find his contact if you need it. When I had a problem the vendor was for some reason unavailable for a while but the rebuilder took care of it. He sent a replacement out right away and didn’t even ask for proof of purchase. He, honor system, just asked me to return the bad one to him.

Just for laughs, I would double check the ground. I replaced a starter on mine and had all sorts of intermittent weird shit happen with it. Ended up redoing the ground side of things and never had a problem again.

I had a bad starter from them, as well. Couldn't get a response from the vendor and ended up having to file a claim with my credit card company. Once that hit, he sent a replacement.

I get the impression it is a sideline business for him. I tried for 3 weeks before I went to the builder for a replacement.
