Bank 1 sensor 1, then 1171&1174

2002 D2. I just changed bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor. That code did not resurface. I also changed plugs during this cycle of maintenance. Getting to that O2 sensor and getting enough force on it to break it out was tough but I did get it with a big 22 mm box end and a 4 pound mallet after two days of soaking. I didn't run the car hot or use a torch just because I would have fried my forearms working around that pipe. Many rust flakes in all head orifices.

The SES light went out immediately on fixing the O2 sensor. 3 days later I got the P1171 and P1174 but the bank 1 sensor 1 did not come back.

Is this an adaptive thing. Did the engine learn to compensate for the discontinuous O2 sensor and so now to I have to somehow reset and start over?

The truck is running PERFECT right now. The plugs were bad and the O2 sensor that I took out was definitely bad.

Should I run a tank through it and drive a bunch of different conditions and then clear codes again?

Bump,

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Frye?

I read all the other posts on intake leak stuff and took the MAF out and did basic checking. There was nothing other than an O2 sensor code and no bad running conditions before or after.
