Oh yes, we have been to both Shilo and Barnwell.
All I can say is they are two totally different places.
Shilo is ALOT closer to us and simple to do as a day trip however once we went to Barnwell we have not been back to Shilo since.
Barnwell has a bathroom that does not shock the hell out of you when you walk in.
Barnwell's trails are easier to navigate with trail head signs. Barnwell park is a much cleanier place and the atmosphere at Barnwell makes me feel safer vs/ Shilo. Besides all this The rovers just did not get the love at Shilo! We never felt very welcome there. I think the dude that owns Shilo is a total ass and I tend to try to stay away from supporting those that I don't care for.
The terrain is very similar and Shilo trails are alot of fun as well as Barnwell but at least at Barnwell they have the trails rated on the trail head so you know what level you're about to get your truck on.
Also with Barnwell, it is not privately owned by an individual so it's nice to support them as much as possible to "prove" to the govt. that this is a popular sport that TX. needs to support more.

With all of said, since SB155 took place we are running out of fewer places to ride. In the Houston area, there is not much of anything as far as day trip places now. At least with Shilo it's feasible to make it a day trip adventure so I am not 100% opposed to going there. I just don't like it much there but we like to hit the trails at least once a month.
Let us know next time you are interested in going somewhere.

It was more a curiosity thing for me. They are equal distances from me and I have been to shiloh before so I was curious what the feelings were about it. I did not care for shiloh due to the number of drunk kids on atvs there. I also am not a big fan of mudding for muddings sake. so i look forward to actually doing trails.
