don't fill your radiator up with that crap!
it it leaks, pull it and have it repaired. while your at it have them rod it out and you'll be good for another 60k (at least).

you wouldn't want to overheat the motor because the radiator was filled with Stop-O-Leak.

That stuff is nasty to clean up- but might save you a LONG walk if you poke a hole in the radiator on a trail somewhere. It saved my arse when a stick went through the radiator in my '53 M38A1 miles from anything. I always carry some for emergencies, but wouldn't consider leaving it in there a minute longer than necessary.

yep, most rad. shop can completely overhaul your rad. (including welding)

i agree with syoung, one time /emergency use only....(i.e. stranded in the bush ;) )

Is that the stuff famous for cloging your heater core during the summer months?

You got it!

Takes multiple flushes to clear the stuff out- sometimes even then there's still goo in there. I'd rather flush the system several times than convince someone else to drag my truck for miles through the woods. :D

I'll never forget the M38 "incident" Lost a lot of coolant- MILES from anything. Stuck the bar's leak in and put in what water I had with me. Sealed up nicely but water level was still low- filled it with beer. The other option was drink all the beer and wait until later to fill the radiator- if you know what I mean.

Bars leak is installed at the factory by many of the major car builders, and it sells for a reason...it works.

I have used it dozens of times in cars and trucks over the last 20 years and never had one complaint or ill effect .

Bars Leak will never "fix" something, but often it will buy you some time till a guy gets a pay check or until the used car dealer sells a beater ;) ....or in the life of a true offroader it will get you off the trail with even some vary big holes in the cooling system.

Any good Flush will take it out 100% and reopen whatever hole it pluged.

If there was one down side it would be that it turns your coolent/antifreeze a dark brown smelly mess. If by chance that mess ends up on your floor or all over everywhere under your hood , you may have wished you fixed it right the first time.

Bars Leak Rating

in bumblefu#k ***** five stars

in your own driveway ** 2 at best

OK...cant leave out the trail tech or nobody learns anything... :D

if you drive a major stick, branch, fence post...ect ect through you radiator you still arent screwed to bad. you just need to know how to trail patch it.

first you need to get to the damage by removing what ever is in the way...could be fans, schroud, grill. winch ..ect ect

then if you look at the RAD the fluid flows through tubes from side tank to side tank.

the secret is to find just the damaged tube/tubes and cut the tube. then using a needle nose pliers clamp the tube flat. and fold it back about an 1/4" at a time. after about three flips it will start to roll. rolling the tube up a couple inches will make it very water tight.

Do both tubes in opposite directions from the damage. you may need to do a number of the tubes and often one or more rows deep into the RAD.

I once broke a crossmember on a huge boulder pushing the tail of the trans up. this pushed the top of the fan into the RAD cutting a huge half circle into it. I lost about 15 rows 2 tubes deep. yet some handy work with needle nose and a couple "shot shells" of Bars leak and I drove 300+ miles home from a wheeling weekend.
