As I had to purchase a new battery this week for my Disco, I thought I might pass along some product information. Like many here, I want the most powerful and dependable battery I can find in my vehicles. This desire had me strongly considering an PC1500 Odyssey (Group 34) battery. So I called BatteriesPlus (dealer) to find out how much the Odyssey was going to cost me. I was told that the MSRP was $289 but that they would sell me one for about $250. I told them that I felt that was still too pricey and that I would check prices with other Odyssey dealers.

Not wanting to loose a premium battery sale the BatteriesPlus salesperson then told me about their new "X2Power" battery made for them by NorthStar. It's specs are virtually identical to the Odyssey battery and it has a longer warranty to boot. And he would sell it to me for $220 ($30 less than the Odyssey). Additionally, and until May 31, 2011, there is a mail-in-rebate of $30 giving me a net price of $190. I bought it and so far it's everything he said.
