Not to steal form the Lucky 8 vid's., or anyone else. figured I'd start one. I am by far a connoisseur, nor could I explain the flavor, taste or smell to ya. but I do like to try them.

Don't mind the crap on the table.

Edit: I'll do this one again.

none of your fucking business
If you can't explain the taste, whats the point?

JK, this is the beginning of a great thread, I can feel it.

Went down to my local Flying Saucer on Friday afternoon (working towards my first plate)...and tried Founders Pale Ale Nitro on tap.

Very tasty with the texture of Boddingtons Pub Ale but the finish of a nice floral pale ale. Not to sweet with no bitter aftertaste. I'm very much looking forward to drinking this during the summer months when it starts heating up. Also had Bells Oberon and the Duck Rabbit Pale Ale, which I've had before but, needed to knock out for my plate.

Anybody else have a Flying Saucer local to them? Anyone else have a plate up on the wall?

When I've drank beer at a Micro Brewer, I've found that ultimately, I will get hammered

and have no recollection of a name of the fine beer I am bingeing. Sometimes to the point

of drinking Manhattans (wtf is that ??) at next bar, then dancing with fat chicks at the NEXT

bar.......

Busch Light .............

I'm drinking a Mountain Dew tonight. After that, I'll probably follow up with another Mountain Dew, and somewhere along the line, a Sonic cheeseburger is going to happen.

Cheers,

Kennith

There is nothing wrong with PBR, but even my wife won't touch Michelob Ultra. Good on you for keeping the misses happy at whatever cost, though.

Okay, I'll try. it wasn't bitter, hoppy, sweet nor sour. Just hit the taste bud right. That said, it sounds like ya can describe a bru. maybe I'll learn from ya's. Now, the floral thing.... sounds kinda weird to me. I can't lie to you, first thought was, two guys drinking at a high top table with flower petals all around and them's playing twinkle toes under the table. to each his own, but Please tell me I am wrong.

Bud Light next to #9 is a sin. Buy that shit in cans and keep it in a cooler in the garage.

It's been about 14 years though since I've meandered around the Magic Hat Brewery when lived there. Was a freaky little black warehouse and only sold local. Then again I remember when Yuengling was pretty much just a PA beer too back in the college days. Fuck I'm old.

Yeah, every time I see Yuengling in the grocery store (in NC/TN), I think back to when I could only get it in State College, not even in Pittsburgh. That was the 90s.

Then I feel old....

Same with Magic Hat; I could only get it when I was in New England, or Harpoon, or Smuttynose.

The plus side is the distribution channels have gotten much better.

I have mixed feelings about Flying Saucer. When I was in TX is was one of the only places where you could get microbrews (and a variety; the exeption was The Ginger Man in Rice Village, Houston).

Being in Raleigh, though, there are a lot of independent bars that serve tons of good beers (I can name 3-5 in Cary/Apex, lots more in Raleigh). And you can't throw and empty beer bottle without hitting a microbrewery. So, I tend to go to those.

I go to the Flying Saucer in Raleigh about 2-3 times a year. No plate, just beer in my belly.

Penn State really created the "need" for it outside of PA. A ton of PSU grads were moving to the DC area after graduating and that was the next big distribution area for it. Western PA didn't have it, but DC did. That was still a Rolling Rock/IC stronghold.

I only drank it while at Penn State for the most part. It was the cheap beer alternative for those not willing to lower their standards to Bud, Miller, etc products.

Not too far down the road there's some redneck joint that has Yuengling on their menu - spelled Yueng-ling and under the "imports" list. No joke.
