Hello chaps!

Could one of you possibly help me out with the size of serp belt I need for my 1998 D1. I ordered the Mean Green Alternator today and would like to get prepared for it's arrival. Thanks very much!

James

PS I did troll through the boards to see if I could answer my own question, but could not find an answer.

don't you use the stock size belt? If the pulleys are different then your tach won't be right.

If your current belt is too small it probably has a 95 or older pulley on it.

i have an old mean green on mine. belt is slightly larger than stock, but not sure if that has changed over the years. don't have the measurements/numbers on me here. i'll post up in an hour or so when I get home.

Yep I bought directly from them, $399 plus shipping. Jerry @ 724.694.8290. He said no change in belt was needed but I saw alot of information online that suggested a change was needed. I think the MG part has changed over the years and maybe a new belt isn't needed for the new model.

Back when I had an MG alt, it needed a Gates Micro-V K070905 (25mmx2315mm) belt. It must be different now, since you were told there was no change in belt needed. Hopefully they changed more than that, because the MG I had was junk and I ended up having to file a claim with my CC company to get a refund.

was going to post the exact same numbers as Errant posted above. bought mine new back in July '03. still running it, though I had issues with it about a month into ownership. sent the unit back in, MG fixed and sent it back. haven't had any issues since. the older units are damn ugly though compared to the new ones I've seen.

Did you get "directions" in the box with the alt? I got them and they had s new belt size on them, stated in handwriting NEED NEW BELT. I'll get the numbers off them for you.

I don't have the information with me right now but I seem to recall you can get the belt for a 5.2 Litre Jeep.

I have the part # at home, I'll post it later on if you still need it.
